If You Take Vitamin D, You’re Only Doing Half the Job
October 27, 2026
Before you buy another bottle of vitamin D, read this.
Millions of Americans swallow a vitamin D pill every morning, believing they are taking care of their bones. Very few were ever told that vitamin D only handles step one of the job — and that a second vitamin, vitamin K2, handles step two.*
You take your vitamin D.
You drink your milk.
You know calcium matters.
But NOBODY mentioned K2.
Here is what nobody explained: vitamin D helps your body pull calcium in from your food. That is step one.
Step two is putting that calcium to work in your bones — and vitamin K2 is the vitamin that handles step two.*
Here is the simple version. Vitamin D3 gets calcium into your body. Vitamin K2 switches on the proteins that carry that calcium into your bones.* Take vitamin D by itself, and only the first half of that job gets done.
That is exactly why Alex Jones Naturals put both vitamins in one capsule, at doses that actually mean something: Ultimate K2 + D3. In the next two minutes you will see how the two vitamins work together, why the form of K2 matters, and why the dose on the label is the whole story.
Here’s What You Need to Know

1. Vitamin D Brings the Calcium In. That’s Only Step One.
Vitamin D3 is the absorption signal. Vitamin D3 helps your gut absorb calcium from the food you eat.* Vitamin D3 also supports normal immune function, because your immune cells carry vitamin D receptors.*
The vitamin D in Ultimate K2 + D3 is cholecalciferol — the same form your skin makes from sunshine.
But getting calcium into your body is only step one. Where that calcium goes next is a different job, done by a different vitamin.
📄 Published Research
The National Institutes of Health explains that vitamin D promotes calcium absorption in the gut and is needed for bone growth and bone remodeling.

Already taking vitamin D? Good — you have done half the work. Ultimate K2 + D3 does the whole job in one capsule.*

2. Vitamin K2 Tells the Calcium Where to Go
Your body makes a protein called osteocalcin. Osteocalcin’s job is to help bind calcium into your bones.
Here is the catch: vitamin D helps your body make osteocalcin, but osteocalcin stays switched off until vitamin K activates it. Vitamin D3 makes the protein. Vitamin K2 switches the protein on.
That is why vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 belong together. D3 brings the calcium in. K2 helps put the calcium where it belongs — in your bones.*
📄 Published Research
Osteocalcin, the main calcium-binding protein made by bone cells, is vitamin K-dependent: osteocalcin needs vitamin K before it can bind calcium.

Calcium absorbed. Calcium directed. Both jobs, in one capsule, every day.*

3. Not All K2 Is the Same. MK-7 Stays in Your Blood for Days.
Vitamin K2 comes in different forms. The two forms you’ll see on labels are MK-4 and MK-7.
MK-4 clears out of your blood within hours. MK-7 stays in circulation for days, so steady levels build up when you take MK-7 once a day.
That matters for you, because a once-a-day capsule only works if the K2 is still in your blood tomorrow. Ultimate K2 + D3 names the form right on the label: vitamin K2 as MK-7, the long-acting form. One capsule a day is the full serving — no second dose to remember.
📄 Published Research
In a study published in Blood, MK-7 had a much longer half-life than vitamin K1, built up to 7- to 8-fold higher blood levels with daily intake, and produced more complete activation of osteocalcin.

4. 200 mcg of MK-7: The Dose Behind a 3-Year Study
Researchers in the Netherlands followed 244 healthy women after menopause for three full years. Half of the women took 180 mcg of MK-7 every day. The other half took a placebo.
Bone density normally declines with age. In the MK-7 group, that normal decline was slower at the lower spine and the hip than in the placebo group — and measures of bone strength held up better too.
One capsule of Ultimate K2 + D3 gives you 200 mcg of MK-7 — slightly more than the daily amount used in that study.
Now check the K2 number on any bottle already in your cabinet. Many K2 + D3 products list somewhere around 45 to 100 mcg. Ultimate K2 + D3 gives you 200.
📄 Published Research
Three years of daily MK-7 significantly improved vitamin K status and slowed the age-related decline in bone mineral density at the lumbar spine and femoral neck compared with placebo.

5. 2,000 IU of Vitamin D3: A Real Daily Dose, Not a Mega-Dose
The recommended daily amount of vitamin D for adults is 600 IU (800 IU after age 70). The upper limit for adults is 4,000 IU a day.
Ultimate K2 + D3 gives you 2,000 IU of vitamin D3 — 250% of the Daily Value. That is a real daily dose for everyday support, well under the upper limit.
The 2,000 IU of D3 also supports a healthy immune system* — and every capsule pairs that D3 with a full 200 mcg of K2, so your vitamin D always has its partner.
No guessing. No mega-dosing. No second bottle. Just the right two vitamins, at the right doses, in one capsule.

6. One Capsule With Breakfast. 90 Days in Every Bottle.
Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 are both fat-soluble, so the right way to take them is with a meal. One capsule with breakfast or dinner. That is the whole routine.
No second bottle of K2 to remember. No splitting doses. One bottle holds 90 capsules — a full 90 days.
Bone is built and rebuilt slowly, over months, so a 90-day bottle fits the way your body actually works. Personally recommended by Alex Jones.
And with a subscription, Ultimate K2 + D3 is $29.99 instead of $49.99 — that is about 33 cents a capsule.
